This is what I made for dinner last night. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! It was extremely easy to make, too. I probably should have added a side of something like steamed broccoli but just didn`t... pure laziness is really all it boils down to. Shame on me.
I followed a recipe I found on http://allrecipes.com. If you guys haven`t checked out that site, you should. They have all the recipes for nearly any food you could possibly be wanting. Plus, there are reviews from people who have made that recipe and often they will tell you where they changed up the recipe and why. I like reading those because when I see that a lot of people agreed with certain ingredients added/removed/tweeked, etc. it helps when it comes time for me to make it. I print off the recipe and then I`ll jot notes onto the paper in relation to the changes and suggestions people have made.
I pretty much stuck to the recipe as it is written, except I didn`t have Chinese Five Spice powder and couldn`t, for the life of me, find it at the grocery. I checked the regular herb and spice aisle and then even went through the asian food aisle and couldn`t find anything. If anyone knows what it is made up of, please let me know, because I could mix my own if it is simple spices.
As for the flavor.. It was amazing. It has the perfect amount of zing, saltiness, and heat. It has a slight heat to it that you don`t register at first but the more bites you take, the more you can feel it in the back of your throat. Its just spicy enough without making you feel like you have to guzzle milk to rid yourself of pain.
I recommend this recipe 100%. It is going in my recipe book to use again. It was delicious and satisfying.
