For the first time ever I bought my very own furniture set..complete with 2 brand new microfiber couches, coffee table, end tables, lamps etc. Most of the stuff my boyfriend and I have are hand me downs from family members, which is common for most young people when they first start living on there own. We are both in our early..well actually, almost mid 20`s and our house consisted of whatever was given to us.
I decided i wanted to save up and redo my whole living room, and i did. It was a great feeling! Now that we had this brand new living room i had to focus on something else..the walls! They are so bare. We live in a rental and painted most of the walls in our living room blue but there is one wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room..its a pretty small wall but bare and boring. So, i made my way over to Target to see if i could find something to put onto that wall.
I headed over to the home decor section and my eyes instantly darted to a beautiful decal with a black tree, colorful modern background and little birds flying everywhere. I instantly wanted it, my boyfriend on the other hand..not a fan. He couldnt believe i wanted to pay $14 for a wall decal..BUT, this decal is easily removable AND you can reuse it if you decide to move it somewhere else which i thought was neato!
I got the decal and it matches my living room perfect, my coffee tables and other decor is all black so it fit in perfectly. But, i still felt like something was missing. Although the decal looked nice it kind of looked lonely by itself..so, naturally i went back to Target a few days later to see what i could add to it.
I found these adorable mirror butterflies, they also had them in white and both cost $19. My boyfriend again wasnt a fan but hey hes not the one who really even cares about this kind of stuff so i bought them anyway and happily made my way home to hang them up. These butterflies worked out perfectly, they have little nails with a flat base..you hammer them into a wall and click the butterflies onto the flat base. Cool concept, probably not the best idea for someone who rents but our landlords are really nice and dont mind as long as we fill the holes when we decide to move, which we will.
This decal and the butterflies really pulled my living room together. Everyone who has come into my house has complimented me on it. My boyfriend who complained that it was a waste of money and too girly ended up really liking it.
Target has a huge selection of affordable and really cute home decor, i never knew this before going on a hunt to find someone to spice up my boring wall.
What do you think of my Decal & Butterfly set up?Do you shop at Targets home decor section?
