I add sage leaves or basil to most things I cook, I think it just adds this unexpected flavor to everything you cook. It`s a bit of this herbal freshness that changes your dishes without changing it too much. It`s nice to do this occasionally with dishes you start to prepare more and more often, but you get sick of after a while. Basil is really great for soups and pastas. I like using sage in salads, baked chicken, anything with meat, or just with some melted cheese, olives, and tomatoes. I also like cooking lime rice with sage in it, instead of cilantro. The flavor is completely different, but in a good way.
You can purchase a small sprig of it at Whole Foods for $1.99. It lasts 1-2 weeks, and you don`t need to use a lot in your dishes to get that flavor.
I really recommend throwing in this magic ingredient in some of your favorite dishes!
