Did you hear the big news for Apple? Apple recently partnership with major carmakers today to integrate the iPhone into car dashboards. As of right now the first vehicles to be equipped with CarPlay later this year will be Volvo, Mercedes Benz and Ferrari. Along the road, automakers like BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota will pick on.
What is Apple CarPlay?
Apples new system that uses the voice assistant Siri to connect the iPhone to the cars audio system, giving the driver voice-controlled music, maps, contacts and messages. This system is currently going to be compatible with the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s. I am sure later along the way you can update the program with newer devices.
What are your thoughts about Apple partnering with car makers? Is this a good idea? I think it`s a good idea to be able to use your phone device on your dash board without your hands. However, what if you don`t own an iPhone? By having all cars equipped with this feature, not everyone could use it. If we don`t have an iPhone will the car still be able to access features such as the radio? Or sync with their phone. If all future cars are going to be like this.. then, everyone will need an updated Apple iPhone? I am curious how this will play out. :)
