Today I saw the drama movie Anna Karenina, based on a Tolstoys novel. It stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This movie is nominated for 4 Academy Awards: Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Costume Design.
It all starts in Russia, 1874, when Anna Karenina receives a letter from her brother, Stiva, to come to his house and help him save his marriage. Anna is a rich socialite living in St. Petersburg with her husband, Alexi, and their son, Serozha.
Anna then travels alone to Moscow to help her brother. Meanwhile, Stiva meets with his friend Konstantin who is madly in love with Stivas sister-in-law, Kitty, and says he is going to propose to her. However, Kitty declines his offer because she believes Count Vronsky is going to propose to her.
While on the train to Moscow, Anna meets Vronskys mother and when they arrive to Moscow, Anna meets Count Vronsky himself and they have an immediate mutual attraction.
In a ball that same night, Vronsky ignores Kitty and dances with Anna. Anna decides to return to St. Petersburg that same night and Vronsky chases her claiming he needs to be where Anna is.
This is a very well made movie but its kind of weird seeing it because at all time they are in a stage in a theatre, which makes the story less believable.
Its so incredible seeing how much Alexi Karenin loves his wife, even after all she did to him
The end was very disappointing so I give this movie a 7 out of 10 (7/10).
