So, I`m not sure if any of you have been following the lawsuits against Google (Android) by both Apple and Oracle. Turns out that a lot of the code in the Android OS was stolen by these companies.
The court ruled towards Google in the first round of deliberation. However, Oracle doesn`t seem to want to take no for an answer, since the Judge did say that Google had infringed on copyrights. They are looking to have an appeal, and working towards figuring out how this issue can be fixed (ex. how much money is owed to these companies, whether they need to pay a commission for each phone/tablet..etc sold with android on it, whether the phones need to cease to be sold...there are SO many options here). I`m unclear as to what Apple and Oracle will be seeking in damages, but I`m sure that there will be a lot of back and forth in the next stages of deliberation... It will be interesting to see how this appeal does. Sometimes a judge rules differently based on their own bias in terms of infringement... so there`s a definite possibility that Oracle will win in their appeal.
With this information, are you still going to buy an Android phone/tablet in the future? What do you think will be the outcome of all of this?
