Amanda Todd was a victim of bullying. She was bullied at school. She was called names beaten and punched several times. She was abused and a victim of cyber bullying. She lost all her friends and their respect for her. She felt alone and no one stood up for her. Over 160,000 students stay home every school day due to bullying. 70 out of 100 kids on average are verbal bullied each day. 2 out of 100 are cyber bullied. 10 out of 100 are physical. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths each year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicides attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it. Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non- victims of bullying. A study back in Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying. 10 to 14 year old girls may be at even higher risk for suicide, according to recent studies. According to statistics reported by ABC News, nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying. Amandas story is heart breaking and it shows how one bad mistake can ruin your life! So if you see someone being bullied stand up for them and defend them. Tell the nearest teacher or adult. If you are a victim of bullying and feel like nobody cares or loves you well they do! If you are considering suicide HUGE mistake dont do it. Life will get a lot better and God loves you VERY much. You are Gods shinning diamond. If you are a bully knock it off dont you see what it causes. You wouldnt like to be beaten, called names or left alone. What would Jesus do. If you wouldnt do it to Jesus himself then dont do it to anyone. Together we can stop bullying stand up for what is right.
