God, this show fascinated me!! Everything seemed so new and original when it appeared. The little dancing baby that Ally often halucinated, the inner song theme which Ally had to chose at her psychologist suggstions, Richard Fishs fishism, the unisex bathroom the place where the conversations were always listened, speaking in the mirror, each of these little things made it so extraordinary.
Ally McBeal is an American tv show, created by David E. Kelley, that aired for five seasons on Fox television. The series presents the adventures of a 28 year-old lawyer, Ally Mcbeal (Calista Flockhart) and other young lawyers that are working in the fictional Boston law firm Cage & Fish. Here, she encounters her ex boyfriend, Billy Thomas(Gil Bellows), whom she still loves and his beautiful wife, Georgia Thomas(Courtney Thorne-Smith). Cage & Fish is described as an extremely sensual, as suggested by the unisex toilet.
An excellent series with delightful characters played by phenomenal actors. Of all five season, my favourite is the fourth one, which marked the appearance of Robert Downy Jr. This was the show that made me notice him as a great actor. A good looking one, might I add!!! He played Allys love interest, Larry Paul. His performance was praised and the following year he was nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category and won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a mini-series or television film.
After his departure from the show, following his arrest on substance abuse, the series wasnt the same. It wasnt as funny and addictive, as it was the fourth season. Bringing in Jon Bon Jovi as a new love interest for the lead character, and giving Ally a daughter hadn`t helped much at all. For me, it wasnt the same. Without Downey, the fifth season had floundered more than ever.
