Asiatique in Bangkok opened end of April 2012, my friends were RAVING about it when I met up with them, a must-visit place. Apparently, lots of locals have yet been there themselves, including my Thai friends. You can drive there or take the cab or BRT express bus to Rama III station (but you`ll still need to take a cab). We took the Metro (BTS) to beat the terrible traffic but it doesn`t get you to the doorsteps, you`ll have to change to the river shuttle which is free of charge. River shuttle, something I didn`t mind taking as a tourist, consider it as part of sightseeing, there`s so much going on along the Chao Phraya River, it`s so interesting.
Stop at Saphan Taksin BTS station, walk towards the pier, Asiatique shuttle is at the far end of the pier.
There are lots of unique, tasteful shops with tons of personality. They have converted the warehouses and categorize the things into different areas. Things are not cheaper than the Chatuchak Market, but it`s there neater, cleaner, hip and the styles are more put together. Lots of food varieties to choose from....... the food court style, cafes, wine bars to high-end Italian restaurants by the pier. Spotted a few ramen chain stores that`s famous in Japan.
Opens from 5pm till midnight, so it`s a wonderful place to visit and continue your shopping if you`re not dog tired from walking the malls.
