This is one of my favorite dishes to cook and eat. It`s a very simple dish that doesn`t require much effort but it tastes amazing!
It`s a slightly newer Chinese dish that surfaced when my sister and I were trying to figure out what to do with a can of sliced abalone in the pantry.
First you take the canned abalone slices and drain them. Marinate them in abalone or chicken stock for 2 hours. Abalone itself doesn`t have much flavor, but it has very good texture. It`s very chewy and smooth. It also absorbs a lot of flavor when they`re sliced.
Then, cut up a crown of broccoli into a steamer plate and put the abalone slices with the sauce on top. Steam them until the broccoli is fully cooked and the sauce has dripped to the bottom of the steamer plate. The sauce would become less viscous because of the water released from the broccoli as well as the capturing some of the moisture from the steam. This usually takes about a good 30 minutes - 1 hr. The abalone slices should be cooked already since it was in a can.
Then remove it from the steamer and you get this amazing flavorful dish. The abalone slices would have the rich flavor of the chicken or abalone sauce. The broccoli would still be crisp but would also have the abalone or chicken stock as well as flavor from it because it was steamed for a long time.
It`s a very delicious dish that`s easy to prepare =)
Hope you guys liked it.
