A month or two back I was in a very spring time mood: the weather was gorgeous, the sun was shining, it wasnt too hot and there was nary a cloud in sight. So I made something on Polyvore that one could wear pretty much anywhere, I think, i.e. a nice spring garden party.
To that end, I found this dress: the Darcy lace layover dress from Alice + Olivia. The lace overlay of what would otherwise be a plain (and lets be honest) kinda boring dress adds that extra bit of oomph needed to take it from plain to interesting and cute. When going for colors around an otherwise neutral colored dress, I wanted pops of color that were bright, but not burn my retinas bright. I found these really cute pair of t-strap wedges in orange (but according to the link I clicked on on my tumblr, they also come in black, mustard and tan).
And as far as accessories go, I added a white vintage Chanel quilted handbag to compliment the cream color of the dress. For jewelry I added an aqua chalcedony ring, an aqua two-stone ring from Elizabeth and James, a chalcedony pendant necklace to add some fun to the neckline and a blue opal wrap bracelet (both) from Athena designs. To finish off the look I then added a pair of leaf-shaped earrings that were made from green chalcedony.
