Hey Luuuxers,,Disney`s 26th resort is now open - a new 2,000 room property themed around the history of Disney Animation. Disneys Art of Animation Resort will open in stages beginning in May of 2012 and features 1,120 family suites all themed around the Disney animated classics Finding Nemo, Cars, and The Lion King. 864 standard guest rooms will be in The Little Mermaid building. Larger-than-life icons, including a 35-foot-tall model of King Triton, grace the courtyard areas. Many guests may already be familiar with the location of the newest resort. It is adjacent to Disneys Pop Century Resort, in the area that was started several years ago when it was assumed it would be an extension to Pop Century.
The Art of Animation Resort brings guests into the world of the animation process, from the first pencil sketches all the way to the films` close-ups. As you walk through the resort, make sure to look all around, including up, and discover the magic of animation. Beginning at check-in, pencil drawings set the stage as the process begins. As you move through Animation Hall, the sketches become more detailed as the animators figure out more of who their characters will be. A chandelier hanging from the ceiling is filled with storyboards (look closely to see one hand-signed by John Lasseter.) Next, you see the colorscript wall, right next to the Ink and Paint Shop. To discover the films` backgrounds, we head into the Landscape of Flavors food court. This is divided into 4 different areas, one for each movie represented in the resort. As you step outside, you can see everything working together to create the perfect medium shot. The last part of the process is stepping into the rooms - the closeup.
The resort falls into the value range (similar to the All Star and Pop Century resorts), but this marks the first time Disney will open a hotel that features mostly family suites. While it may be a value resort, it should be noted that because the majority of this resort is suites, the price is higher than what guests may be used to paying in the typical value resorts.
