I recently read the book Divergent, by Veronica Roth. First of all, I must state, many books these days are about post-apocalyptic societies. While they have differences, they also have many similarities, for example, in the book The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, there are twelve different districts with the higher power, the Capitol. In Divergent, there are five different factions, but no higher power. There is a faction that does a lot of work with the government, but there is no specified ruler.
In the book Divergent, society is separated into five factions, Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, and Amity. The protagonist of the book is Beatrice Prior, who at the start of the book, lives in Abnegation. When the aptitude test occurs, she discovered she is Divergent. At the choosing ceremony she abandons Abnegation and chooses the Dauntless faction. I will not reveal what happens in the rest of the book but I can guarantee that there is much more than I have mentioned.
Overall, this was a very good book and it`s worth the read. I read the book in less than two days so the entire book is fresh in my mind at the moment. I found this book exciting but events started to happen very frequently and quickly as the book progressed. There are some moments in the book that I feel should not have been so short and should have had more emotion, but overall it was very good up to the end. I am very excited to read the next book in the series.
I rate this book 8/10. See you next time! :)
