Fifteen bloggers, five challenges, 65 posts: The first annual Allure Beauty Blogger Awards was both action-packed and glamorous. Our competitors sounded off with product reviews, raved about celebrity beauty, and solved various beauty disastersbut one blogger stood out from the rest.
Congratulations, Shannon Ray of Gloss and Dirtthe Allure 2012 Beauty Blogger of the Year!
Ray, a 31-year-old saleswoman at Lululemon Athletica who lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, delivered her beauty savvy with lots of sass ("If we could figure out a way to turn my face oil into gasoline, I could way lower gas prices"). A repeat winner of weekly challenges, Ray`s final score was a combination of the public vote on challenge five, and Allure judges` scores on all her challenges since week one. (Click here to watch the video that clinched her spot in the winner`s circle.)
For winning the Allure Beauty Blogger Awards, Ray will appear in an article in the October issue of Allure and show off our seal of approval on Gloss and Dirt for one year. She`ll also travel to New York City, where she`ll go backstage at a fashion show, see a preview of Revlon products, and mingle with beauty pros at the Allure Best of Beauty Awards party, where she`ll roll away with our "goodie bag" (actually a suitcase full of products), worth an estimated $2,500. Ray will also have the opportunity to submit future work for consideration to Allure and http://allure.com.
Our two runners-up are two eggheads: astrophysics student Bailey Brown of Making Up the Midwest and medical student Dovey Kim of Cute and Mundane. Brown`s finger-stippling trick for cheek stain and Kim`s favorite Calder-red lipsticks have already made their way into our beauty routines. Congratulations to them both! Our Buzzworthy winner is Brooke Pakulski of Blushing Noirher challenges received the most total Facebook and Twitter shares throughout the contest. Way to take it to the tweets! These three bloggers will also appear in the October 2012 issue of Allure.
Now, it`s also time to reveal the results of our very last challenge. We sent the bloggers 70 new Revlon products and a video camera and told them to get creative
