The Texas Mile is an event that takes place twice a year on an empty airplane runway. Fast cars from around the country come to test out how fast they can get their cars on the mile long strip. This year a Hennessey built twin-turbo Ford GT, tuned by Shane Tecklenburg of Fast Motorsports, ran 257.7mph on March 25, 2012, smashing the previous record of 250.1 mph. Pretty impressive!!
Would you go this fast in a car if it was a protected airstrip like this?
