Today I have a very exciting review on the newest lippie addition to ELF`s line, the Studio Moisturizing Lipsticks ($3 each 11 oz). I`ll be comparing these Studio Moisturizing lipsticks to their other lipsticks, Essential and Mineral, since most of us have tried at least one of those and hopefully it will help paint a picture of how these perform.
Let`s begin with packaging. The Studio Moisturizing lipsticks have a lightweight metal feel, whereas the Essential and Mineral lipsticks are both plastic. Unlike the Essential and Mineral lipstick tubes, which can easily lose their lids or crack when put in your cosmetic bag or purse, the Studio Moisturizing tubes are very secure and sturdy. I also found the lipstick bullets in the Studio Moisturizing lipsticks to be much sturdier than the previous lipstick lines, which tend to break.
The formula of the Moisturizing lipsticks is creamy and smooth, they are definitely an improvement from their other lipsticks. I have tested a few shades for all day wear and found that the moisture lasts for about 4 hours and then I start to feel some of the hydration fading away but it never gets to the point where my lips are dry and need a balm or re-application of the lipstick. The color lasts forever, even when the lipstick is fading away it leaves a sheer stain on the lips. There`s a faint sweet scent to the lipsticks, similar to their Exfoliating Lip Scrub, like a subtle vanilla.
