I`ve seen the $20 makeup challenge going around YouTube and whatnot for a while now, and I knew that I wanted to try it, but I`ve spent a while contemplating which products to use. I decided to just go for it and try it today. The look definitely isn`t the best I`ve done and it was more challenging than I thought it would be.
In case you don`t already know, you basically have to apply (as close to) a full face of makeup with the prices of both the makeup products and tools totaling only $20.
I wanted to try to use products that I already had and at least liked. I didn`t want to go out and just buy the cheapest products available just for the sake of having a bunch of inexpensive products. I had never used the mascara before, but I didn`t buy it solely for this challenge. I saw it on clearance at CVS a couple weeks ago and wanted to try it. I also didn`t want to use all e.l.f. products, but I did use quite a few.
Wet n Wild Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer in Sun Kissed $3.99
e.l.f. All Over Cover Stick in Honey (Under Eye) $1
e.l.f. Blush in Glow $1 (Now $2 with their new packaging)
e.l.f. Eyelid Primer $1
Philosophy The Supernatural Windows to the Soul Eyeshadow Palette/Quad in Box of Truffles $3 (Found at Big Lots)
Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara ~$2 on clearance
Wet n Wild Eye Liner in White $1
Wet n Wild Brow Pencil in Taupe $1.99
e.l.f. Minty Lipgloss in Miami $1 (Found at Dollar Tree)
e.l.f. Eyelash Curler $1
e.l.f. Powder Brush $3
My total came to about $20!
I used the e.l.f. powder brush to apply the tinted moisturizer and blush. I used the brush that came with the Philosophy quad to apply the eyeshadows and I also used one end of it to apply the dark matte brown as liner on my upper lash line. It was the first time that I had used the mascara, but it was actually pretty decent. I applied the length and then the volume.
Have you attempted the $20 challenge?
