Drum roll please! It`s 5 slices. A typical bagel amounts to 5 slices of bread! That`s quite a lot. Average calorie count for a slice of bread is 70 and a bagel is around 350 calories. Bagels aren`t like BAD for you but they`re not particularly healthy either. Most bagels don`t have any vitamins, minerals, or fibers. And without fibers, it`s just plain carbohydrates that breaks down easily into sugar (simple carbs). You want to eat complex carbs. It takes your body longer to break down complex carbs which means long lasting energy.
