I saw this on CNN today and was shocked at the senseless violence at a Soccer match in Egypt. Up to 72 people are dead and hundreds injured as fans from a rival team invade the field throwing stuff and burning things. An interesting analysis by CNN is that Egypt nowadays is lacking in security personnel ever since the popular uprising that knocked out their long time Dictator/President.
I've heard of soccer incidence before where there are riots in other countries. But I've never seen something to this scale and definitely not in the U.S. Perhaps at concerts but not at a sporting event.
Talk the TALK
1) Have you ever been a witness to violence by Sports fans?
2) Have you ever participated in such violence?

That is too scary =/
My goodness!... And I though only in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil these kind of stuff happen....
I remember in my hometown (Monterrey. Mexico) soccer games always go bad... violence between its fans its so common downthere, and just for a local team game...
People shouldn't take those games seriously...
That's sickening how out of control people are over a game. I think Soccer games have the most violence than any other sporting event.
Ruvic Esteban: ha ha ha... yes b/c when you play sports, you tend to maim people!
Nope no to violence
Bruno Silva: exactly. i go to games just to hang out and relax.
The Ladies Man.: it's always shame regardless of circumstance.
Trinity Lane: Just not worth fighting or dying for.
Daniela chernichenko: No i haven't. Most of the videos i've seen are from foreign countries in south america.
crispy ☮: Yeah i hate that. I bring my daughter to games and i hate drunk idiots ruining it.
Eileen Hoang: Ooh you shouldn't have started the fight. Quit starting trouble.
Bklyn Queen: They need a re-establishment of their authorities.
A A: I think it's up to 74 deaths now.
Connie C: for real. such sore losers
Vivian Tso: Yeah me too at least not at that level.
May Tii Ly: yeah i hate big crowds too. =(
mylittlecasey *: Not from what i heard. But it may be tensions from the politics.
Lilly M: i've seen fist fights between Mets and Phillies fans.
so sorry to hear that happened. i don't follow the news much especially sports.
I never saw it in person but only on TV, in Portugal we don't have this kind of violence
I heard about it this morning.. It's so sad..
I seen bad stuff happened during sports but this is CRAZY, people dying and injured because of other people throwing things... that is extremely scary and crazy.
Thankfully my husband has never gotten to a fight at a sports game.
it's tragic but quite ridiculous for lives to have to be lost due to a sport event. Isn't sports suppose to be fun? Now I know why I don't play any more sports. ;P
I saw this at the news yesterday. I never been part of sports violence ( thats because i don't watch them lol) and never saw it in person but only on TV and unfortunatly is quite common, jnot always this extreme but there is always some kind of violence. Its sad and i don't why people don't just enjoy the game instead of making stuff like this
shame people had to die
I read this in the news this morning, horrible news. The riots here were bad but I can't imagine that many people dying because of sport
Clearly you've never watched a game in England or saw any Hooligan videos. Nothing to this extreme, but I've seen some crazy stuff at games. In other countries soccer clubs and their fans are like our gangs.
I did not read this, this is horrible. And they say cursing at sports events is bad since it's family function. I've witnessed fights here and there from drunk punks, but definitely nothing to this extreme. Horrible.
I almost saw a fight start on the train after a hockey game once. It was quite scary, but other than that I have never witnessed any sport's fan violence.
Wow! Soccer is that serious to them? I understand having a love for the sport, but thats horrible. I hope they get control of the situation so it doesn't continue to happen
It's really shameful of the fans. Hopefully there are no more deaths.
That is such a shame. You'd think people would just go enjoy the game regardless of who wins or losses. Some people are such poor sports.
So tragic. I've never come across something like this thankfully.
dang, that is messed up that ppl can't even enjoy a good outing without some dumb ppl messing things up bc they are just plain rude and inconsiderate. Shame ppl had to die while at a soccer game. That is one reason why I do NOT like CROWDS.
I just saw this on the news and it's such a shame that they took it to this level. I'm sure this was not only a riot because of the soccer match. Politics were probably also the reason they took it this far. It's very sad.
No and No. That is so scary. Everyone here plays nice even if the teams they're cheering for at rivals it won't go further than jokingly making fun of the visiting team :p
