Have you been to New York City? I am planning on going there for vacation around the end of August and would love everyone's recommendations for places to visit and things to see!

I'm open to anything - museums, stores, malls, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, landmarks, popular tv/movie locations (eg. locations from Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Seinfeld) etc.

I'll be staying at The Plaza Hotel with my parents. We'll be visiting for four days I think, after our trip from Boston.

Some obvious/popular places I've made note of were:
-Times Square
-Central Park
-Metropolitan Museum of Art
-Museum of Modern Art
-Greenwich Village
-Empire State Building

What else? What are your favourite places and things to do when you're in the city?

Anything near the Plaza hotel or accessible by walking or public transit.
