Yes, another Balboa Park post but this time it's about my experience at the San Diego Museum of Art. The admission here is usually $9 with college student id or $12 for regular adult admission (seniors, family pack is at cheaper price more information click the link below) but today there was free admission luckily for residents of San Diego. Honestly, I wouldn't pay to go in a museum of art cause I'm not a huge fan of art. My boyfriend and I went to Balboa Park to visit the Japanese Garden but by the time we got there it was closed so I was bummed.

The next free admission was to the San Diego Museum of Art. NO PHOTOGRAPHY WAS ALLOWED which is why I have no photos to share but I thought the museum was very interesting.

The collection of art the museum had were:

- Asian
- European
- Art of the Americas
- Post War & Contemporary Art
- Photography
- Arts of Africa, The Pacific and The Native Americas

My favorite section was the Asian and The Native Americas. The Asian collection had a lot of sculptures of the buddha and it was very interesting to see. The native culture is fascinating to me as well just because, I have no idea why.
A lot of paintings in the museum were painted beautifully, some even looked as if it was real.

The only con is that if this admission wasn't free, I think it's a waste of money because you can't take photos or remember your experience ALSO the building gave me a creepy vibe since it's so old. There's also a weird scent in there.....

I wouldn't go back but did learn a lot of new things. There's a lot of reading to do since everything in the museum has a caption. If not a caption, there is a tv showing you how like a Japanese kimono is worn.

i love attending museums. I hate paying for it. Most of New York's are suggested donation, so I'll give a few bucks.

I've only been to Balboa Park once, and I did not have the opportunity to visit a museum, unfortunately :( I would've loved to visit the photography museum there.

I think it's only worth it for those who enjoy and appreciate art. I love going to all kinds of museums, esp in other cities. I'm the one who stays behind and reads all of the info lol while the people I'm with just keeps walking. I love history.
