Eastern Island is a Polynesian Island that is famous for its 887 statues called moai which were created by the Rapanui people hundreds of years ago. As you can see these statues are either heads or statues with simple bodies. These islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the most remote inhabited island in the world. Like many islands Easter Islands and the surround area are good for scuba diving, tuna fishing and surfing. Another thing to check out are the Dos Ventanas (Two windows) cave, which is an old lava tube which has a magnificent view. Unfortunately pictures of Easter Island mainly focus on the moai sorry :p.
Can you believe these statues were made hundreds of years ago?
What do you think they were staring at?
Pictures are from source link and information from link below and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Island and http://www.vivatravelguides.com/south-america/chile/chiles-islands/easte...

They were made hundreds of years ago, and they're still standing. Wow :)

Marilyn M.: It's quite far. It's west of Chile.
what an amazing place! I would definitely love to see these statues up close. I have no idea how to reach Easter Island lol but I want to go.
Thi Hoang: They could well be staring at a god that the Rapanui people worshiped.
I think they're staring at God. :)
mylittlecasey *: I remember the Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller lol. My bets are worshipping some sort of god or aliens would be a possibility too.
Connie C: I know the third picture looks really nice with the stars. Looks hard to carve statues like that.
Eliza Grace: ET lol ET come home.
Brooklyn Mak: Aliens left them there? After they made the pyramids lol.
Todd the dork: Haha yeah there's no Easter Bunny sorry to disappoint.
Eileen Hoang: That'd be what I'd want to be staring at too.
Pho Dang: It does look really neat and impressive considering they were done a few hundred years ago.
albano carmo: I have no idea what they're staring at either lol.

Amy H: I just googled those. They are quite similar. The Korean ones look more detailed though.
I don't know what they're staring at but I do know what they're thinking..."Hey dum dum, you give me gum gum!" Remember the movie Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller? lol They're most probably worshipping some type of god or waiting for the aliens to come lol.
How did they carve them? Looks like a lot of work to carve one of those. The third picture of them look nice.
