These are tips to cleaning your make up drawers.. i'm kind of a hoarder, and i hate throwing things away that dont NEED to be thrown away! so i've accumulated drawers and drawers of make up, some of which i havent used in months, maybe even a year! i came across this article, and it really encouraged me to throw stuff away! i mean, i know they're obvious, but it really helped me let go of things! so here is the article, it's from dr. jessica wu from dailyglow.com
* Check the expiration dates. If any of your cosmetics have expired, toss them. They may be contaminated with bacteria that could end up giving you a skin infection.
* Think about the last time you used the product. If it was so long ago that you can't remember (or you know but you're too embarrassed to admit it), go ahead and say good-bye. How many lipstick nubs do you need, anyway?
* Open the makeup containers. If you see mold (ick!), if it smells bad, or if you notice that the product has changed in color or consistency, get rid of it.
* If anything's dried out, ditch it. This goes for mascara, liquid eyeliner, lip gloss, cream blush, foundation, concealer, and any other liquid-based products.
* Clean the products you're keeping. Wipe off any leaky bottles of foundation, goopy mascara, or sticky tubes of lip gloss. If your brushes and tools are caked with makeup, it's time to wash them.
* Make over your makeup area. Get a cosmetics organizer and some cute containers to put your products in. Keep a vase of fresh flowers, an aromatherapy candle, and a pitcher of drinking water with lemon slices, along with a special glass, on your vanity. Make your beauty prep area pretty, so you'll look forward to doing your makeup in the mornings.
i remember watching tyra a few years ago, and it was an episode that showed the dangers of our old make up- like all the bacteria that cultivates in our old make up and that was the last time i spring cleaned my make up collection! i forgot about that until today, where i cleaned out a load of old make up, skin care, and brushes!

Make up storage is one of my main problem as regards make up: i keep everything messily and I end up using the same stuff everyday!

A pitcher of drinking water permanently in your makeup area? This is a little silly, while the rest of the advice is sound.
great idea!

I wish I had that much make-up to clean up! Though I did a big clean out not too long ago and threw whatever I hadn't used in ages away.
