I've always been on the search for a perfect smokey eye brush. So far, this MAC 214 is the one I like most for creating a smokey eye. I was at the MAC store and one of the artist did a purple smokey look on me with this brush, which she claimed was a must have for smokey look. And I definitely can see why after she was done.

The bristles of the brush is actually quite short compared to your regular brush. It is very densely packed, and that's why it is so good at smudging liners. The tip of the brush is also very thin, so you can definitely use it when precision is needed.

I mainly use this brush everyday to smudge out my black liner. You can either apply the liner then smudge it out, or add a little black/dark gray onto the brush and smudge out the liner if you don't want to loss the intensity of the liner. The 214 can create such a smudgy/blended smokey line for the eyes.

This brush is also excellent for applying colors on the lower lash line. For me, because I don't have a lot of space to apply colors on my lower lash liner, this brush helps me put down a precise line of colors. Of course if you can wear a really smudgy look on your lower lash line, you can certainly achieve that look by using this brush also.

Lastly, I think this is also a must have for us ladies with smaller eyes. In addition to the two techniques I mentioned above, this brush is also great at packing on colors. For those of us with not a lot of lid space, we want to be careful on the placement of eyeshadows. Due to the small size of this brush, it is great for us. And because it is so dense, it can pick up a great amount of colors.
