my suggestion isn't so much for the eyelash curler, but rather for the mascara...personally, i love covergirl, and if you're eyelashes are super straight, always opt for a water proof version. it has a bit more wax in it, causing your lashes to hold the curl.

I just use a covergirl eyelash curler & I use my CoverGirl Lashblast mascara. It's amazing.

I love my shu uemura curler (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P8119). It's a bit more than you'd pay for an eyelash curler at the drugstore, but I swear it's different. I love it! I've also always been really intrigued with the heated eyelash curlers and these little plastic ones (http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12343&categoryId=C8620&shoul...) that are a less traditional.

I think a good outcome lies more in the method. As much as I don't want to admit it, I think you can do a good job with any curler.. if you use the right techniques. Curl the last a few seconds at a time from the root to the tip.. Use a hair dryer to heat the curler for a few seconds (but not too long, or you might burn the sensitive skin on your eye), and curl your lashes normally. Use a specially formulated mascara that holds curl (or find one with a brush that helps to form a curl). But remember, some people's lashes just don't curl as well as others. I have very straight lashes as well.. under "single eyelids." Embrace that beauty, girl! Or start using falsies. (;
