As mst of you know by now, I recently became gluten free. Some of you thought that being gluten free meant saying goodbye to carbs but that is not true.
Why did I become gluten free? For many reasons. I heard that removing gluten from your diet is good for clearning out your skin, losing weight, regaining energy and most importantly good for your G.I tract. A lot of celebrities have removed
gluten for their diets such as Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Madonna etc. but everyone has their own personal reason why they chose to be gluten free. Have I noticed a difference? Believe it or not I have. I have a little bit more energy now, I no longer get tummy aches and my anxiety is starting to reduce.
During our bi weekly grocery run, I decided to check out the gluten free frozen food section at Wincos. To my surprise they actually had quite variety of Gf wheat aternative products such as hot dog buns, hamburger buns, bread, etc. But what I was mainly interested in was their Pizza crust. Pizza has been the toughest thing for me to give up, because let's be honest, can one actually give up pizza? Never. Although Gf pizza may not be as fullfilling and delicious as regular pizza, its much healthier and better for your G.I tract.
Udi's GF pizza crust comes in a pack of two, each of them being large enough for 1-2 persons. The pack of two costs about $5 which is not bad at all because the reviews are actually pretty good. I made my own marinara sauce using italia diced tomatoes and tomatoe paste as well as other herbs and spices and topped both crusts with it.
Then I added some shredded mozerella cheese, pepperoni, baby spanich, bell peppers, Jalapeno peppers, green onions and cooked chicken breast. Then placed it in the oven for about 15 minutes.
It was actually really really good. I am a big fan of thin crust pizza anyways so this wasn't a big change for me. Hubby really liked it too!
Serve this with a nice salad and call it a meal!
Have you ever tried Udi's GF products before?
This year I have truly surprised myself by how much I have incorporated color into my wardrobe. Over the past years, I went from being someone who mainly wore black to someone who rarely wears black. I guess after hearing for many years that wearing too much black is bad for your health, I decided to break up with my love affair to black clothing. Don't get me wrong, I still wear black, but not
as much as I used to, which is actually a good thing, because black clothing requires high maintenance.
I had no idea what I was going to throw on yesterday when my sister texted me early morning stating that she was going to stop by my house after her exam with the County (she just graduated with a B.A in Justice studies). It was a pretty warm day yesterday so I knew I had to wear something light and fresh.
The weather where I live is very different from what I am used to. Up until I was 21 years old (when I got married) I lived in Newark. The weather in Newark is cool for the most part and rarely ever goes above 80. For a little over 3 years we lived in San Leandro which has similar weather to Newark but last Summer we moved to Pittsburg which is really warm! I wouldn't be complaining if my house had an A.C! But since I live in an older home (built in the 50's) the owners (we rent) didn't add an A.C. So during warm days, I have to have all my window treatments closed and not let any light in ( I feel like a bat) so it can stay fresh and cool.
The first thing I saw in my closet that stood out to me was my minty turquoise blue bodycon skirt. I quickly put that on after I stepped out of the shower, and but on some random tank top and loose light cardigan on top. I always heard that you should always wear something loose on top when wearing something a little bit more snug for bottoms if you want to prevent looking like you work on the corner.
What I am wearing:
Minty (the tag said mint) tourquise skirt- Forever 21
Taupe nude cami - Sears
Taupe nude batwing cardigan- Cotton On
Nude sandals- Cotton On
Nude and gold cuff bracelet - Target (but purchased on eBay)
Goldtone tassel matchstick and chain necklace- Charlotte Russe
On my nails....Sand Tropez (Essie) & Strobe Lights (Sally Hansen)
On my toes....24/7 (Sinful Colors)
Do you like wearing color?
I know I mentioned in a previous post that I wouldn't be doing any more shopping, but this deal was to good to pass up so please don't judge me. I guess I am just weaker than I thought.
I decided to stop by Target really quick last night because I had saw on their weekly ad that some of their towels were on sale. My hubby and I have had the same towels for about 3 years now (is that bad?) so
I thought we could use some new ones. Well I ended up not liking the quality of the towels that were on sale (by their RE essentials line) but of course couldn't leave empty handed so decided to check out their shoe section (as I always do).
If you have been reading my posts for a while you are well aware of what a Target shoe fan (or hoarder) I've become over the past year or so. Not only are Target shoes extremely affordable, they are very cute, comfortable and on trend. So how can I say no to these?
I had been eyeing their Pollie navy blue and tan wedges for quite a while now, but didn't wan't to spend the $30 because even thought that's a great deal, I know that often times than not, their shoes always go on sale (sometimes up to 75%). Besides, during the time these shoes were first released it was too cold to wear them anyway, so therefore waiting for them to go on clearance was actually a good idea.
If you haven't checked out Target's shoe section lately, they currently have a lot of cute shoes on clearance.
I havn't walked around in these shoes yet but just from trying them on in the store I noticed that they are very comfortable. The heel is approximately 4 inches high which is not bad at all. I am a pretty all girl (5"5) so anything over 4 inches makes me look gigantic. I have several pairs of wedges similar to these but they are all over 5 inches tall.
These shoes have somewhat of a nautical look to them due to their rope detailing around the wedge part of the shoe and their navy blue accents on the straps. I just can't get over how cute these shoes are!
The original price of these shoes is $29.99 but I ended up getting them for only $14.98!
If you do not live near a Target or cannot find these in store, you can order them online as well. They are not marked down on their website but if you buy a pair of shoes right now you can get the second pair for 50% so that's a good deal as well! They also have these in orange!

Have you scored any awesome deals at Target lately?
The weather has been really bi polar lately. Just this past Saturday it was in the 90s and ever since yesterday we have been in the 60s (not that I am complaing, I love cooler weather). Saturday was really hot though, and I was invited to a little Mother's day dinner my mom and my aunts were throwing for my Grandma who just arrived from Mexico. My aunt's house does not have any air conditioning
so I had no idea what I was going to wear but I knew it had to be light and airy otherwise I would die if heat exhaustion (yes I am a drama queen who cannot tolerate heat).
I decided to wear a floral high low skirt I had picked up at Macy's on clearance for around $7 (originally $45). I believe it's by the brand American Rag if I am not mistaking. The skirt was a tad bit see thru so I had to wear a slip but that was no biggie. I paired it up with a basic black tank top from H&M and a pair of black wedges. My outfit wasn't anything spectacular but my Grandma really liked it (aww I love my Grandma so much).
What I wore this day:
American Rag floral high low pleated skirt from Macy's
Black patent leather wedges from Marshall's
Black basic tank top from H&M
Gold and Mint long necklace from H&M
Gold spiky necklace from H&M
Gold and white watch by Gruen from Avon
Pyramid cuff bracelet from H&M
Belt was thrifted
P.S. I took this picture before I was fully ready. I actually wore my hair in a ponytail with a crown of braids. :)
Do you like the high low trend?
I swear this Saturday was Christmas because not only did I receive my BzzAgent Gucci kit in the mail I also received a box of prize goodies from a fabulous Youtuber RachieB15. I have been quite lucky when it comes to winning giveaways lately (not so lucky in all other aspects of life but hey, none of our lives are perfect right) which I find odd due to the fact I had never been that lucky in that
department before.
The prize I was most excited about was the Too Faced Naked Eye Palette! I had been wanting this palette for a very long time but never purchased it because I already had the UD naked palette. This little palette comes with a total of 9 eyeshadows. I can already tell you that I am in love with this palette. The pigmentation is amazing and the eyeshadows are very smooth. My favorite shades so far is Lap Dance and Satin Sheets. The only color out of this entire palette that was similar to one in the original Urban Decay Naked palette was Satin Sheets (close dupe for Sin). Overall I am very very impressed with the quality of these eyeshadows and cannot believe that I had never given Too Faced products a try.
She also included a set of 3 EOS lip balms in sweet mint, strawberry sorbet, and Passion Fruit. I am a huge fan of EOS products and had been missing my eos lip balm that I had ran out of so I was really happy to have received 3 more! They all smell absolutely amazing but I think my favorite out of the three would have to be Sweet Mint because it reminds me of chocolate mint ice cream YUM!
The last few items she included where 2 mini bottles of Essie nail polish and one full size bottle of Milani Gems nail polish! Essie is my absolute favorite brand of nail polish so I am so excited to be adding two more to my collection. I had also been really wanting to try Milani gems because I heard it was a dupe for Deborah Lipmann's Happy Birthday.
Overall I am very happy and thankful for my gifts! Rachel I you are reading this THANK YOU!
Check out here channel, she's amazing and deserves more subbies: http://www.youtube.com/user/RachieB15
I also wanted to include a picture of Romeo and Max per Ashley Renea's request :) These are my two parvo survivors. We feel very blessed to have them in our lives. Can you believe that they are from the same litter? Max weighs half of what Romeo weighs! Romeo has always been the chunky monkey out of the bunch. They are both 16 weeks old and Romeo weighs 7 pounds while Max only weighs 3.5.
Do you won the Naked eye palette? What are your thoughts on it?
My Gucci Floral Garden collection Bzzagent kit is finally here! Actually it arrived Saturday morning but I hadn't had the chance to post until now. I was really excited to be selected for this amazing campaign especially since I have only been a member of Bzzagent for only a few months.
As soon as I opened the package I was already impressed. Everything was packaged inside a really cute and
sturdy white box wrapped in gorgeous black and white floral tissue paper to match. When I first signed up for this campaign I thought I was only going to receive one small tiny sample of one of their new perfumes so you can imagine my surprise to find out I received 3 mini bottles (one of each of the 3 fragrances), 9 samples for me to pass out to family and friends, as well as a few pamphlets. Each of the bottles contains 5ml so if you think about it, thats 15 ml total which is just under one full one. The 1.7 oz full size bottle will cost you around $70 so the value of these samples are around $40 (and this is not including the 9 other mini sample vials). This was definitely a very generous campaign.
I am undecided as to what scent I love the best but I think the scent I am most attracted to is Glamourous Magnolia but all 3 smell equally amazing. I love the packaging of the 3 tiny bottles and each come in a Spring inspired color (light blue, pink and light green).
The 3 scents I received were: Gorgeous Gardenia, Gracious Tuberose and Glamorous Magnolia.
What I think of each of them:
Glamorous Magnolia: very sophisticated citrusy floral scent. I would have to say that it is more floral than citrusy but you definitely do smell the citrus. The perfect scent for Summer indeed. It's my favorite out of the 3.
Gorgeou Gardenia: This one reminds me of one of my favorite Victoria Secret perfumes, Angel. It has a really sweet but clean scent. (yes I am terrible at describing fragrances...sorry)
Gracious Tuberose: This one is my hubby's favorite. It reminds both of us of my Viva La Juicy perfume. It has a nice floral scent that is not to overally sweet. Perfect to wear to school or the office.
Here is some more detailed information about these 3 amazing scents straight from the Bzzagent website:
Inspired by one of Gucci's most iconic designs, Flora by Gucci: The Flora Garden Collection is a bouquet of refined eau de toilettes, designed to express the multi-faceted personality and depth of emotion of every woman. Glamorous, Gracious, Gorgeous — each fragrance is distinct, yet together all the scents embody the beauty and allure of Gucci's renowned Flora pattern, originally designed for the charismatic Princess Grace in 1966. Explore each bloom, and express your loveliness, with Flora by Gucci.
Glamorous Magnolia : A brilliant opening of buoyant freesia, zest and green leaves yields to a tactile fusion of peony and magnolia. Sandalwood, musk and warm chocolate lend sensuousness to a base that proves as lingering as it is addictive. Glamorous Magnolia celebrates the magnolia in all its guises: radiant freshness, velvet petals and an enduringly feminine sensuality. Glamour is assured.
Gorgeous Gardenia: A sparkling prelude of succulent red berries and juicy pear gives way to an opulent floral heart. The plushness of gardenia petals is enhanced by the creamy warmth of frangipani flower, underlaid by the delectable aroma of patchouli and brown sugar. Gorgeous Gardenia is a paean to the lightness of the shrub's first blossom and the addictive richness of it in full bloom. The result is gorgeously feminine.
Gracious Tuberose: A distinctively elegant tuberose in which a verdant overture of violet leaves and peach softens into the plant's silken blossom. A base of white cedarwood and cistus enhances the impression of refined charm. Gracious Tuberose embraces all aspects of the flower's loveliness: its fresh green shoots, dew-sprinkled petals and lingering sillage. The effect is the most gracious aura.
Overall I am very impressed with Gucci's new line and I am also very impressed with Bzzagent. If you are not familiar with Bzzagent it is a mouth to mouth social marketing company that sends out products to consumers and have them test them out as well as share their opinion with others. Each time you are selected fora campaign you can choose to accept or decline the invitation. If you choose to accept, you are required to write a short review about the product you received whether you loved it or not. The more activity and surveys you complete on this site the more campaigns you may qualify for. It is absolutely free to join!
You can find Gucci's flora collection at Sephora or Macy's!

Are ou signed up for BzzAgent? If so, what has been your favorite campaign so far?
I know that I mentioned In an earlier post that I wouldn't be hauling in a while but I just received a bunch of items I had ordered from eBay weeks ago as well as I forgot to include a couple clothing items I purchased about 2 weeks ago.
***I wanted to apologize for being MIA and not answering some of your emails, I've had a crappy/sad couple of days. 9 days one of my chihuahua's 3 month old
puppies became violently sick with an awful deadly canine disease know as parvo or parvovirus. He recovered very quickly thanks to all the medications we purchased for him as well as the 24/7 care my husband and I gave him. He was better in no time and gained back all the weight he had lost. As soon as he was feeling 100% better, the other 2 puppies became sick. Max & Audrey started showing symptoms Monday morning. They were extremely lethargic and had completely lost their appetite. Within a few hours of their initial symptoms they began to vomit. We started IV fluids and medications on them immediately without wasting any time but they didn't seem to get any better. Before I continue I wanted to add that although Max & Audrey are from the same litter as Romeo, they are much smaller and weigh half of what Romeo weighs. Within two days they went from being 2 playful 3.5 pound puppies to 2 parvo 2.5 pound puppies. They had already lost 1 pound!! One pound may not seem a lot to us because one pound is nothing when you weigh over 100 pounds (assuming most of us weigh over 100 pounds), but for these little guys 1 pound was nearly 1/3 of their weight! Audrey was the sicker one of the two, she would throw up every 2 hours whereas Max would only throw up once a day. We rushed them to the vet and they told us that they both were fighting it really hard and they gave us hope. We also had them prescribe them medications for hardening their stools as well as give them anti vomiting shots. As soon as we brought our puppies home Audrey started having diarrhea (I'm sorry guys I know this is tmi). My heart dropped..... diarrhea is a deadly sign when a puppy has parvo. Vomiting is one thing but what really kills them is diarrhea due to more rapid fluid and electrolyte loss. The combination of dehydration and other parvo symptoms eventually cause heart damage. Within 24 hours she....passed away in my husbands arms. Needless to say, it was a devastating day for both of us. On a lighter note.....Max is back to normal. He really misses his sister (that was his buddy) but he is back to eating (a lot I must add) and drinking and being his playful cute self. Parvo is no joke. We were lucky that 2 out of the 3 parvo puppies survived but usually 50% of parvo puppies die despite whatever you do. We did everything we could...we ended up spending a total of nearly $800 on medications, iv fluids and hospital visits, we had over a week of sleepless nights, we shed lots of tears.... but we would do it all over again. Audrey will be greatly missed (she was my husband's favorite). ***
Okay let me compose myself before I continue.......
A couple of weeks ago I went to Nordstrom rack to see if maybe I could find something for my mom for Mother's day. I searched the entire store but didn't find anything that I thought she would really like. But I didn't want to leave empty handed because the closest Nordstrom Rack to me is 45 minutes away in my old town so I decided to see if I could find something for myself. I ended up finding a really cute blush colored boyfriend blazer in their clearance racks for only $19.99. I thought it was such a good deal because it was originally $60 at Nordstrom. I kind of wish I would have found this in a size Small because it seems to fit a little loose on me but I guess that's why its called a boyfriend blazer. It's also very very lightweight which is perfect for the warmer seasons.
At Forever 21 I found a really cute scarf while I was looking for a First Communion gift for one of my husband's nieces (she is only 12 but really likes F21 jewelry so I wanted to add some to her gift). The scarf I got myself is a bright coral pink. I had been wanting a scarf this color for quite a while so I was really happy to find one. It was a steal as well. Less than $5. They also had a bunch of other colors such a turquoise, white, purple etc. Okay now to my eBay stuff.....I ordered a spike cuff bracelet from a US seller. I think she put the incorrect price on her listing because all her other pieces were over $15 and this one was only 99 cents with $2 shipping. I would give you guys her link but this was the only one left. I have seen similar pieces for over $30 so I was really excited about this one. Its really heavy and feels expensive too. It also looks like a dangerous weapon so I guess I will wear this at night when we walk our dogs lol.
I also ordered a few pieces from several Hong Kong sellers. I was really unhappy with one of them and that would be the necklace. In the picture it looked completely different! In the picture the necklace was cream white and a pale gold but the one they sent me was a yellowish color with ugly gold. I was quite disappointed so I contacted them to let them know they needed to change their pictures because they were wayyyy off and they offered to refund me my full money so I thought that was really nice of them because I wasn't expecting that. It was nearly $7 which wasn't too bad but I was really hoping for the one they had in the picture because it reminded me of one that Carly Cristman bought at Nordstroms. Oh well...I guess I will still wear it.
Other things I ordered was a wing ring and a deer bracelet. I thought these two were quite unique so I decided to get them. The bracelet is pretty big on me though so I don't recommend this if you have small wrists like I do but I really like the ring because its adjustable.
What I purchased:
Blush colored boyfriend blazer by Frenchi- Nordstom Rack $19.99Coral scarf- Forever 21 $4.50
Tassel necklace- eBay $6.89 (on sale right now though) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Korean-Fashion-Unique-Style-Personality-Elegant-Tassel-Necklace-Free-Shipping?item=280865904368&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8350000312795825977#ht_4921wt_1142
Spike cuff gold bracelet- ebay (US Seller) - $2.99
Deer brass colored bracelet - eBay- $1.79 http://www.ebay.com/sch/peacefulworld*js/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
Angel Wings Ring- eBay - 99 cents - http://www.ebay.com/itm/180848867731?var=480089035288&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I have a few more eBay pieces that I am waiting on so as soon as I receive them I will post them as well.
Have you purchased any jewelry from eBay? Any pieces you recommend?
I hope I am not boring you with all my recent food posts. I promise to have some variation soon. However, I usually post about what currently inspires me. Sometimes it's fashion, other days it's makeup, these past few days it's been cooking. I guess I have my husband to thank for that. He's always complimented me on my cooking even from the very beginning of our marriage when we both knew my
meals were barely edible. But somehow, over the past 4 and half years that we have been married I have actually learned to cook, quite well I should add (I hope I am not sounding cocky, cause I am not), 99% of the time the meals I prepare are actually decent. I guess years of watching the Food network and printing out recipes from online paid off. I am still learning of course, but practice makes perfect. I am still far from perfect, but hearing so many people (friends, family, hubby) tell me they love my cooking gives me such confidence to always experiment with foods. Which brings me back to something I mentioned in a post the other day, validation is highly important. One nice comment you give to someone can be so powerful you wouldn't believe it.
These past few days I have been very busy taking good care of my puppies. Romeo is 100% better but the other two (Max & Audrey) just started showing symptoms yesterday (they are doing better too though). Being busy taking care of sick puppies leaves me little time for cooking. So fast and easy meals are all I can prepare these days, but we all know that most fast and easy meals are not always the healthiest. But I made sure the meal I was to prepare would be as healthy as can be.
When I have no idea what I want to prepare for dinner I stare into my fridge for a good minute or so until an idea pops up (do any of you do that?). I had already been defrosting a chicken breast since that morning (this was made yesterday btw) so I knew that the main dish would be chicken. But rather than my usual grilled chicken I wanted to try something different. So I pulled out a bottle of Trader Joes sweet chilli sauce, some pepper flakes, and some greens.
I cut the chicken breast into a few bite size pieces, coated them with garlic salt, garlic pepper, black pepper and a dash of sea salt and into the pan they went with a teaspoon of olive oil.
Once the chicken was fully cooked I added snow peas, a handful of spinach, some pepper flakes, a dash of dried basil and of course a little over half the bottle of Sweet Chilli sauce.
I let all the ingredients cook together for a few more minutes while meanwhile I reheated left over brown rice.
My husband and I really enjoyed our Asian inspired meal. It was sweet yet spicy and absolutely delicious. I can't take full credit for this meal though....the sauce was the star.
If you are interested in how I prepared this meal I may be adding this to my new cooking blog within the next few days: http://lilianaskitchen.blogspot.com
Have you ever tried Trader Joe's sweet chilli sauce?
One of the first foods that I immediately missed when I decided to go gluten free was Pizza (geez I hope I am not boring any of with my GF posts). I guess it would have been a good idea to have stuffed my face with loads of pizza before I began any diet changes but I didn't and have not been able to get pizza out of mind since. It's not like I ate pizza every week or nothing like that but it's
good to feel some kind of freedom when it comes to food. And not to mention the fact that I am a huge fan of that delicious pie.
Not many restaurant sell gluten free pizza as of yet but those who do charge a whole lot more. So yesterday, while my husband went to his sister's house at a ranch 3 hours from where we live (for her kid's first communion) while I stayed home and took care of my sick puppy, I decided to treat myself to some home made pizza.
I had just purchased tapioca and rice flour so I decided to use a half of cup of both and mix in baking soda, milk, olive oil, sea salt, egg whites and flour. I had been looking for a GF pizza dough recipe online but I didn't have most of the ingredients the recipes called for on hand so I decided to make my own.
I was a little nervous but decided to top my pizza dough anyways. I topped it with some shredded mozzarella, home made marinara, pepperoni, dried basil and some pepperoni. Popped it in the oven for about 20 minutes or so and viola, a delicious pizza pie.
I was very surprised that this actually came out better than I'd expected. I was expecting a disgusting tasting crust but it was actually really good therefore I will definitely be making it again! The crust did look different and was thinner than what I was used to but it was still really good.
Have you ever tried making gluten free pizza before?
