On, June 13, 2011, Constance White, the newest editor-in chief of Essence Magazine was honored in New York City at the Bryant Park Hotel. In celebration for the third annual Juneteenth event, the Fashion Art Xchange presented a fashion show showcasing 4 up and coming designers and to honor Constance White celebrating her contribution to the fashion and arts world. As many know, Essence is an
iconic publication that has been for over 40 years now. It is the premiere magazine for the World’s beautiful black woman.
The Fashion Art Xchange also known as FAX was founded by Gwen Sargeant in 1994 was created to provide a networking exchange for people of color in fashion and the arts. This includes retail, design, and anyone working within these industries. The organization also provides seminar, educational opportunities and scholarships for deserving students. With events put together throughout the year, the celebration around Juneteenth is one of the most important.
As many people may know, Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated event commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. For the past 3 years, the Fashion Arts Xchange has honored some of the fashion elite during their annual Juneteenth celebration.
To help make this years event a successful, many talented people lent their expertise such as Tai Chunn and MVC Production Team who handled the front of house seating rather smoothly as we entered the theater. There was delicious buffet from Soul Fixins and dessert from Cake Bliss.
The night ended Constance White accepting her award and giving a speech thanking FAX for being recognized. She challenged the audience to continue to succeed, and to continue to make a pathway for all who come afterwards. Those words are truly a testament as to what Juneteenth really means to us even today.

Everyone loves a beautiful bride. Well, that is until they turn into a Bridezilla.
If you have ever been a part of a wedding in any form or have you been a bridesmaids or even a maid of honor, then you have probably had an experience or two with a demanding bride.
Hopefully your experience was exciting, upbeat and memorable but chances are it was not at all like that. If you like many
members of a wedding, you probably cursed the day you even accepted the invitation to be a part of the nuptials.
I am not married and have not been married yet but one thing I hope that never happens is that I become a bridezilla?
Oh my God. I have watched many normal loving women become monsters when they are planning their wedding. My question is, isn’t this supposed to be a beautiful day? Isn’t this supposed to be about love and living the rest of your life with someone special? When I see the abuse that a bride to be gives her wedding party I am floored and amazed as to how these people even manage to stay a part of this event.
Bridezilla usually are all the same. They have a tremendous on them or better yet they put stress on themselves then pass it onto others. They are:
Extremely abusive – I have seen bridezilla yell at the their maid of honor, their mates and even their parents
Self-centered – Even though it is their wedding, they are not keeping in my mind that they people they love are taking the time out of their life to help them
Ungrateful – It seems like no matter what anyone does, it is not enough to make them happy.
Petty and childish – I have seen some bridezilla hit below the belt with some of the comments they make to the people around them.
In the end, I do wonder if it is even necessary to put themselves and others through all this drama for one day. The event is not even one day. The wedding is normally less than a half hour and the reception might be 4 hours long. So after months of torture and abuse to your friends and family, they get to share a 6 hour event with you. The question is: Was it worth it? I mean, of course the marriage and being with the love of your life is worth it, but was the actual planning of the wedding? Also, if you feel that way, have you taken the time to apologize to family and friends for the abuse and drama? Hopefully you have taken the time to do so, because while weddings are nice, the planning is not often an easy thing. It can be challenging to all involved but if there is anything I have learned from a Bridezilla and that is to either go to city hall or to save enough money to have a planner do everything for me and give everyone else a break.

This is a question that many people may think about at one time or another is their lives especially people who love to travel.
As we visit different cities and countries in the world, we may ask "Where would you love to live for a while if money was no object?" Would you remain where you currently live or would you whisk off to most exotic location in the world to leave for a year or even
longer? Many people think about this often and wonder if anyone else has thought out this as well.
Of course, there are those individuals out there who really don’t care about travel at all. They are just fine just staying in their local surrounding area and living a regular life everyday, but what about the adventurous types in life who wants to see as much of the world as they can before they die? They have to dream and plan as much as possible to reach specific destinations.
Traveling can be the most fun and enlightening experience ever. You get to go to a new place and get to meet cool people. You get to have memories that will last you and the people or person you travel with the rest of your life. What if you had the chance to have the experience extended? If money was no object at all, where else in the world would you live? A few great options to ponder could be the following: Many people love Paris. It is a great city and so exciting. South Africa and New Zealand are also popular destinations for travelers. Some people have to think about this question thoroughly weighing all the pros and cons of a move, while others can answer it right away.
The thing that to remember is that that money is no issue so worrying about a job or where there children will go to school would not hinder them in anyway. It is important to think in that mindset when answering this question. What are your top 3 choices? Some people may have only one choice. Some may have more than 5 places they would love to live. No matter what it is you choose, wouldn’t it be a great dream to just pick up and live somewhere different for a while and not have to worry about money. What a great dream to work on turning into a reality.

Fashion Week for September 2010 in New York City began in full swing with a host of shows at Bryant Park and all around Manhattan. On Thursday, September 9, 2010 in the trendy Chelsea neighborhood in New York, designer LaureLuxe unveiled her latest collection. Laurel Mae DeWitt, is the principal designer and creator of the LaureLuxe brand. She is a native New Yorker and graduate of Pratt Art
Institute.
DeWitt’s style has a youthful creativity and craftiness that can only be described as fantastically bold. Her drive is to continuously evolve and push all boundaries in the fashion and entertainment world. To her, metal knows no limits and be used to accent clothing or simply be worn as clothing. Her show gave the audience an outstanding example of this fact.
The show for the fall season was held at the popular hot spot called The Gates located on 8th Avenue between 24th and 25th Streets. The crowd was eclectic, chic, stylist and bold much like the designer herself and was packed to capacity with just standing room only as the runway show began.
The show started with a metallic bang having a trail of sexy men displaying the new men’s collections of innovative and original metals that could be worn with playful casual wear and as an eye-catching accessory for something a little more upscale. When is came to the female models, LauraLuxe teased the crowd a bit. As they each graced the stage, they slowly sauntered down the runaway in a Grim Reaper style robe that added a hint of goth and mystery to the show. On the trip back down the runway, each of the models removed their robes to display the fabulous creations.
Her name as well as her work is quickly becoming well known in fashion circles in the US and all around the world. In fact, her much sough after designs have been worn by celebrities such as: actress Mila Jovovich, supermodel Sessili Lopez, Grammy Award winner singer- songwriter Cyndi Lauper to rapping sensation Nicki Minaj, singer Amerie, and pop artist Lady Gaga.

Having beautiful skin is really something we can all work toward. While some people may have a little less work to do, it is still possible to repair your skin. With the right products and the right care, having healthy skin can become a reality.
You may recall while in the grocery store seeking to buy a certain product and it would state on the ingredients to “Just Add Water” to create
a delicious meal. This can be the case in beauty. Water has always been an important source in beauty and the cleansing of our skin. In fact, it is one of the first things that our mothers would say to us as children. They would constantly tell us to wash our faces. Whether you use water from the tap, bottled water or water from a filter, facial cleansing was important as a child, and is even more important now as we become older. The correct beauty regimen can keep your skin looking younger and healthier longer.
Another important key is to find the correct product that works for you depending on your skin type. There is a vast array of great products on the market so making the right decision can be tough. You may want to start by talking to the people closest to you and asking what they use. Also, consulting an expert can also be helpful. Whatever way you choose, remember to keep your skin clean and always add water.
