we had an unopened box of these truffles for the longest time and today, while very cranky because of my special monthly gift, i decided to break out the chocolate. i couldn't find any other chocolates at home.
this box is HUGE! holy crap. there are two huge bags inside and i've only opened one bag thus far, but i'm pretty sure i won't be able to finish it before i have to trash it or
something. it's just too much chocolate for anyone and believe me - i really wanted my chocolate today!
these truffles are nicely sized and amazing. they're bittersweet, which i love, and dusted with cocoa powder. they were just what i needed today to tone down my crankiness LOL
have you tried these truffles before? do you like truffles? what kind are your favorite?

for lunch, i got a slice of pizza from a local pizzeria. it's been SO LONG since i've had pizza because i try to stay away from it now since all that cheese and oil isn't healthy. i got pepperoni since their only options for pizza by the slice for lunch are cheese and pepperoni, though if i had my choice i definitely would have ordered italian sausage.
what's your favorite kind of pizza?

i've been on the hunt for the perfect bikini top for a few weeks now, and i finally think i found it! i looked through target's current season bikini tops and there were a few that i liked, but at $14-$16 apiece, i wasn't quite sure if i really liked them THAT much. (i'm a cheapo when it comes to swimsuits, always have been and always will be lol) the problem was that as cute as they looked on
the hanger, they didn't look that good when i actually put them on.
today, i found this bikini top. i wasn't quite sure if it would fit since it's rather skimpy compared to what i've normally worn in the past. i tried it on and it fit really well! i was quite surprised. there were other tops that looked bigger where parts that needed support or should've had a little more coverage were just popping out LOL
best of all, the top was on clearance for $7.48! i used a $3 off swimwear coupon from target.com and that brought the price down to $4.48! a pretty awesome deal if you ask me.
i tried on a bottom as well but it didn't work for me... too much muffin top :( i'm still on the hunt for some good bottoms but at least i've already found half my ensemble :)

i haven't had a corn dog in a really long time, and when i spotted a big pack in the fridge, i knew i really wanted one! my mom got a bulk sized pack of these from albertson's and my sister has them for lunch sometimes, apparently. i used to have corn dogs a lot more when i was younger as well, but i haven't really had them often enough of late :/
i popped one in the microwave for 30 seconds
and then put it in the toaster oven for another 10 minutes on a low setting to give the outside a bit of a crunchier texture while making sure the whole thing was hot. i ate it with a little bit of ketchup.

my sister and i went to BJ's restaurant & brewery tonight for dinner. i used to always order the grilled chicken pasta there but at 1700 calories for that one dish, i realized i can't get it anymore. and it's so scary looking at their menu! everything has so many calories :(
they do have an "enlightened entrees" menu with choices all under 575 calories. last time, i tried the maui glazed pork
chop. i decided to try something new today and get the creole tilapia. it's served with a rice pilaf and arugula salad.
the fish was quite good. it didn't have that fishy taste at all. when my parents make fish at home, it always still has the fishy taste :P it was topped with a sauce made with tomatoes and olives. i thought this was a really neat combination of flavors for a sauce. it was a little overwhelmingly tomato-y but nothing i couldn't handle.
the rice pilaf was SO GOOD. it's the best i've ever eaten! it was moist and flavorful, whereas the ones i've had in the past were always dry and bland.
the only part i didn't enjoy was the salad. i think it even says on the menu that the salad was an arugula salad. the problem is i hate arugula! haha i probably should've read the menu more carefully and asked for a normal salad and i'll remember to do that next time.
i might get this again next time or i might try the balsamic chicken breast. that one has more calories but it's still one of the healthier choices on the menu. i would say that i really enjoyed my selection :)
and of course, my sister and i ended our meal with a pizookie. we almost ALWAYS get the regular sized one and we order half oreo half chocolate chunk. i didn't get a picture of this since we dug right in when it arrived at our table LOL
what's your favorite kind of fish to eat?

i'm no fan of starbucks but i was out with my sister today and we really wanted some water, and starbucks is always an awesome place to go for a cup of ice water. i felt bad just asking for a water and leaving, so i got my sister a cake pop. i contemplated getting one for myself but at $1.50 a pop, i just got one for her.
since i didn't taste it, i can't say whether or not it was yummy. but
even if it's the most amazing thing on the face of this planet, $1.50 for that little cake pop is SO NOT WORTH IT. my sister is 9 years old and she finished it in like three bites -_______- i think i would've been much better off getting one of the cookies or something for her because they're only a few nickels and dimes more expensive and they're way bigger, though in my experience they aren't too great tasting.
do you also think starbucks charges way too much for their cake pops? at this rate, i'm much better sticking to making my own.

green tea has to be one of my favorite teas. i think it's so light and crisp tasting. i'm just not into herbal fruity teas and more into classics like green, black, chai, and jasmine teas. this came in a variety box of tazo tea i got a while back and i never got around to trying it until today. i thought it would make a nice complement to my green onion pancake. an all chinese brunch lol
i
really liked this tea. i don't make it as strong as a lot of chinese restaurants like to serve it when they brew it in a teapot. i don't like an overwhelming taste of tea! just enough.
like i said before, it's very light and crisp and perfect for the mornings. this is definitely more of a morning tea for me, i think, even though a lot of chinese people like to have their green tea all day long, even with their dinner. personally, i like jasmine later in the day and in the evening. or even better yet, chamomile or some other decaf tea!

this was what i had for brunch today. i popped one of these in the toaster oven for a few minutes to heat it up and make it crisp again. if you reheat these in the microwave, they get all soggy so i always prefer to use the toaster oven. i accidentally burnt it a bit as you can see on the bottom so i just ripped that part off and trashed it, but i ate the rest of it.
green onion pancakes
aren't that healthy but i love them! they're one of my favorite chinese "junk food" items haha especially when they're crisp and flaky *.*
this one was a bit salty for my taste. i like a bit of salt but this one had more than i preferred. i don't know where it came from... it was just sitting in the fridge and no one else laid claim to it so i took it lol
have you ever had a green onion pancake?

there's a hawaiian BBQ place that's literally minutes from my house and we haven't been all this time. for some reason, i've stuck to L&L and ono because those are the two that everyone knows and i've steered clear of this place. my mom wanted to try this place for dinner and since my sister was at a birthday party where she would have her own dinner, my mom and i went to this place to check it
out.
i didn't want to eat a lot since i had a nice lunch at CFA. we decided to split a plate. the one we ordered came with spicy BBQ pork, BBQ beef, and BBQ chicken along with two sides. we chose brown rice and salad for our sides.
the portion wasn't as big as i've become accustomed to at hawaiian BBQ places, but it wasn't small by any means. i enjoyed the chicken and beef, but i think even in the photo above you can see how much fat that pork had! we probably got 3 or 4 big pieces of pork and only one of them had significant amounts of meat. the other ones were all fat! ew!
the rice and salad were whatever... i mean there isn't much you can do to mess either of them up.
i don't think i'll be back. we paid a little over $10 for our plate and i was quite disappointed. the chicken and beef were good but not stellar, and i can get far better portions and (dare i say) quality at other hawaiian BBQ places in terms of getting meat and not PURE FAT.

my mom whipped up this smoothie this afternoon since once again it was quite warm and we wanted something to keep cool. she decided to take out the blender and make a smoothie!
INGREDIENTS:
- strawberries
- bananas
- honeydew melon
- orange juice
- ice
i don't know what amount she used of everything and she didn't follow a recipe. she just kinda threw in whatever and it turned out
really well! it was so cold and yummy. i'm not typically a smoothie person but this one was SO GOOD, and i'm not just saying that because my mom made it ;)
her one tip is that you should freeze the strawberries and bananas before putting them in the blender. use fresh ones and just cut them up and stick 'em in the freezer for a bit before tossing them in the blender. she says this makes them easier to blend.
what kinds of ingredients do you use for your homemade smoothies?
