Beauty Tip of the Week: Long Lasting Lip Color

There is nothing more annoying then spending forever on your lipstick and it only lasting about an hour, or smearing right off when you eat. Here's a few tips to keep your lip color from going anywhere: -Lip glosses are just bound to come off, since they are sticky and wet. So if you want your lip color to last longer, don't add a gloss over it. Some lip glosses are made to be long lasting, but they are usually the stickiest, which makes you want to wipe it right off anyways. -Lipsticks are going to last much longer than gloss. Matte lipsticks, like the Revlon Matte ones (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Revlon%20Matte%20lipsticks), are going to last the longest. However, they can be a bit drying. Add a bit of lip balm first, like the EOS ones (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=EOS), and then blot off the excess. This is going to make it more moisturized, but still stay on. But you have to blot if off before applying the matte lipstick because it will just slide around. -To get maximum staying power for lipsticks: -Apply a small bit of cream concealer, like the MAC Studio Finish (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=MAC%20Studio%20Finish), to the edges of your mouth. This will help the lipstick stick, and hide any redness around the mouth. -Set it by blotting lips with a powder, like the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=%20MAC%20Mineralize%20Skinfinish%20Natural). This will seal it in place a absorb any oils that might make the color smear. -Apply a lip liner that matches your natural lip color or that is the same as your lipstick. My favorite are the NYX Lip Liners (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=NYX%20Lip%20Liners). I also like the Maybelline Clear Lip Liner (http://www.amazon.com/Maybelline-ColorSensational-Lip-Liner-Clear/dp/B002L6NZ6C?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969), since its is clear it can be worn with anything. This always make the color stay on so much longer! Line the edges and definitely fill the lips in. Lip liners are matte and won't rub off! -Apply your lipstick in a thin layer, and then blot. Apply a second thin layer over it. This will make it last way longer! -If you don't like the look of matte lips, choose a creamy lipstick, that is still long wearing. The Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Maybelline%20Color%20Sensational%20Lipsticks) are creamy but last a long time. If you must add a gloss, only apply it to the center of your lips. The corners are going to wear off first, so avoid them with gloss. By only applying gloss to the center, your lips will look fuller too! -Some lipsticks that advertise "long wearing" like the Maybelline Superstay 16-Hour Lip Color (http://www.amazon.com/Maybelline-Superstay-Lipcolor-16-Hour-Conditioning/dp/B00112BSPC?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969), are extremely drying to lips and just flake off when they fade. I do not recommend these types of lipsticks. Hope some of these tips helped! Beauty Tip of the Week: Get Glowing Skin for Summer!

Summer is almost here, and we don’t want our skin showing any signs of those dry winter months! Here’s a few tricks to keep your skin looking glowy: Items are linked to Amazon where you can find them cheaper! (Prices aren’t exact) -Exfoliate! Your skin cannot shine if there is dead skin on it making it look dull. My favorite was is using a gentle scrub every night like the Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub. Every other night I use it with my Olay ProX Cleansing System ($27.50 on Amazon http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=glameup-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B0043OYFKU&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr). I did a review on it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf1y6N7GegY. This little gadget really does the trick to make your skin look more luminous. And it even helps fade acne marks left over! -Toner! Using a toner after washing my face always instantly makes it look more moisturized. This helps to close up your pores and add essential moisture back to your face that was stripped away with your cleanser. And it removes any leftover residue. I like the Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner ($4 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000U5O650/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399353&creativeASIN=B000U5O650). Make sure it does not contain that drying alcohol! -Moisturize! No matter if you have oily skin or dry skin, you must moisturize! If you dry out your skin it is just going to produce more oil, causing too much shininess. I like to use a thick cream at night, like the Olay Night Night Recovery Cream ($16 on Amazon http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=glameup-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B004A70RTS&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr), and the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 ($14 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IM5VT4/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399353&creativeASIN=B001IM5VT4). You must have an SPF in your morning moisturizer. Your foundation should contain it as well, especially in the summer. Then sun dries skin out and damages it, making it appear more dull. -Light Foundation! The heavier your foundation is, the more cakey and less natural your skin will look. Heavy foundation also clogs up pores and leads to breakouts and larger pores. Especially in the summer, I like to use a light foundation that still has good coverage like the Covergirl NatureLuxe ($10 on Amazon http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=glameup-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B0043OUJBE&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr). It contains moisturizing ingredients like cucumber extract and does not have pore clogging ingredients. You could also use a tinted moisturizer, for an even lighter coverage. -Powder sparingly! Only apply your setting powder to your T-zone or areas where you get oily. If your skin is dry, you probably don’t even need a powder. My favorite is the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_tl?ie=UTF8&keywords=mac%20mineralized%20skinfinish%20natural&tag=glameup-20&index=aps&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325. -Highlighter! I love using a highlighter to finish off my face makeup! Apply it right at the top of your cheek bones, down to your nose and up your temples and under your brow. You can also apply it down the bridge of your nose (which makes it appear thinner) and on your cupid’s bow above your lip (which makes them appear fuller). Where ever the light hits naturally! This really brightens up your entire face, but don’t go too crazy with it. I love the Revlon Finishing Powder in Brighten ($5 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=glameup-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399357&creativeASIN=B0039UTTC8&ie=UTF8&node=11058971).
