I can’t believe I’ve let my blog go this far without an entry. So much to share so little time, I’ve really got to get better at updating this blog.

I want to talk about my latest love affair with Urban Decay. It is one of the big cosmestic companies that are well known by beauty and fashion fanatics. I, however, who has just rekindled her love of cosmetics have found a whole new appreciation for Urban Decay products. I hope this is the beginning of a long relationship rather than a fling. Here are a couple of their products that I can’t seem to keep my hands off:

NAKED Eyeshadow Palette:

Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette
I can’t say enough about this palette. For $48.00 you will get 12 vibraant shades of basic neutrals, a pro-quality brush, and a sample size eyeshadow primer. That’s quite the bargain! I have to say that this is the best palette I’ve ever purchased. There are 2 matte shades and the rest are shimmer. For those matte lovers, please do not hold yourself back from trying, you’ll be surprised by the sublety of the shimmer on application. Trust me, I’m not much of the “BAM!” eyeshadow type, but I am actually able to wear these shades not only on a night out, but also all day everyday. When applied, the shimmer actually has more of a dewey appearance rather than that vegas glitter look (which to be honest can be uncalled for…but to each his own). My only concern at this point is if this palette is a limited edition. I’m hoping to refill my stash of these for as long as I live! Ok, let’s move on…

The brush is perfect for the consistency for these shadows, you really can’t go wrong. This brush allows for an even and smooth application. If this brush is any indication of Urban Decay’s quality in their brushes, I may have to start collecting their brushes as well. Last but not least, the eyeshadow primer is all the rage. Beauty bloggers have raved about this primer for a long time but I had yet to part with my complacency in the primer I was using at that time. Now, I have jumped the bandwagon and have not used any other primer after buying this little baby “genius” in a bottle. So if you didn’t get the gist yet, I highly highly highly recommend you grab one of your own!

Urban Decay Brow Box
Let’s talk eyebrows. This little flirty box is exactly what I have been looking for to help me with eyebrow enhancement. In my case I should call it eyebrow CPR! Eyebrows have always been my challenge. I haven’t had much luck using a pencil because of my lead hands. Like many out there, i’m sure, I always over do it resulting in “Sharpie brows” — you know, the eyebrows drawn in with a Sharpie marker. It comes with 2 shades (one dark, one light), great for blending the perfect tone. The box also comes with a mini angled brush to help with application which has been helpful in shaping and defining. Taking it up to gold medal status, Urban Decay has squeezed in a mini tweezer in the kit. I was first hesitant on how effective and user-friendly this tweezer was going to be, I was pleasantly surprised to find out how easily this mini marvel picked up stray hairs. If you think that’s cool, they’ve also added a spring drawer of wax to finish and hold your eyebrow as is. Who would’ve thought a little wax is all you needed to keep your eyebrows from melting under the sun or smudging on rainy days. These little trinkets they’ve added (did I mention the installed mirror) makes the kit most excellent for travelling. My only complaint would be that the box is a bit fragile. Be careful with dropping it, the Plastic cover tends to crack at the hindges and the wax drawer can pop off its sping. Other than that treat your eyebrows to this treasure chest.

My next and latest purchase is the new REVOLUTION Eyelash curler. This little grasshopper has made a buzz in the beauty community. I don’t know if anyone’s ever updated the eyelash curler. It seems as thought the eyelash curler has been so effective that no one has dared change its design, until now. Urban Decay has modernized this archaic beauty routine and has claimed to made this innovative design to make curling lashes pinch-free by removing the “cage”. So far it has worked perfectly fine. I have to admit it took some getting used to but I think I’ve finally got the hang of it. The kinetics of applying the pressure is just different with this gizmo so that may take some practice. If you are still uncomfortable on how to use it, UD has posted a tutorial video on their website as well (just click on the image, I’ve provided a link!). I’m not yet comfortable claiming that this has made any improvements in the result (ie. longer perfectly curled lashes), but I can say I am liking the cage free idea. I am one of those who pinched her lids on the cage so I am completely appreciating the removal of that possibility. Also, I am enjoying the fact that I am now able to grab all the lashes in both the outer and inner corner of my eye. The Revolution allows you to easily curl your lashes in sections, so this will come in handy for the lucky ducks who have tons of langes and big puppy eyes. One last thing, I say if you are brave enough to try this new friend, I’d keep an eye on the cushion pad, I’ve heard it falls out quite easily. It’s only happened to me once but I wouldn’t let this stop you, did I forget to mention that Urban Decay provides 5 refill pads with your purchase?

Okay, well I think that’s about it for now. I’ve just ordered the UD 15-year anniversary eyeshadow palette which I’m eagerly waiting for delivery. There are a couple more things I’d like to post a review on, but I think I’ll slip them in during my review for the anniversary palette. Tata for now!

Jess Cook: I know, isn't it terrible?! I had to frequent my local stores until I got lucky and caught the girl restocking. I've actually emailed Sephora suggesting they establish an In-store preorder/reservation for out of stock items. Let's keep our fingers crossed :)
