Health & Beauty » Tips&Tricks: Brighten Up The Winter Blues

Winter can make us feel a little down and one of my favorites way to perk up during the cold winter months is to brighten up my makeup routine. Here are some of my favorite winter makeup change ups:

1. Bright Pink Blush- NARS Angelika is a great bright pink blush that brightens up your complexion without overwhelming your face.
NOTE: My Angelika blush is in a duo along with Laguna Bronzer so I swatched both of them in the picture.
2. Bright Eyes- Taking a bright white, champagne, or pink eyeshadow and placing it either all over the lid, in the outer corner, or the center of the lid makes your eyes appear bigger and brighter. One of my favorite products to use for this is MAC's paint pot in Bare Study.
3. Bright Party Lips- Reds are always in for the holiday season and they easily brighten up any complexion. A bright red gloss or lipstick gives any holiday party look a vintage sexy siren look.

SWATCHES from L-R: Revlon Colorburst Gloss in Strawberry, Rimmel Moisture Renew Gloss in Purple Rescue, YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Lipstick in Luscious Cherry, and MAC's lipstick in On Hold.

Revlon’s Color Burst Gloss in Strawberry is a great way to do a bright red if you want something bright yet subtle and easy to do. Because it’s a gloss it’s easier to apply and not as intense as a bright lipstick. Rimmel’s Purple Rescue is a deep purple berry tone that goes on glossy and opaque and is a great way to do an easy dark fall/winter lip. YSL’s Luscious Cherry is an absolute favorite of mine! It’s a sheer bright red that you can wear in the summer for a “just ate a cherry popsicle” look or in the winter for a gorgeous vintage red holiday lip! It applies easily, goes on sheer, lasts for hours, and smells amazing!! Finally is MAC’s On Hold lipstick. I believe it’s a cream sheen lipstick so it’s opaque and creamy. MAC lipsticks last forever on the lips and super moisturizing. On Hold is a gorgeous red shade that is kind of a toned down bright red. It’s easy to wear and most skin tones can pull it off, it’s my most recent addition to my winter lips collection but I’ve been loving it for this season!
