[Pictures not mine - they were all from different sites, so I just put what I typed into google.]
Ombre Hair is basically when you have dark roots, going down in a gradient effect to light ends/tips. It's a very low-maintenance style and I personally think it looks great!
This look has been worn by many celebrities such as: Shenae Grimes, Leighton Meester, Lauren Conrad, Sophia Bush, Alexa Chung, Lily Alridge, Lea Michele, Vanessa Hudgens and more recently (VMAS 2011) Demi Lovato
It's very simple to do yourself according to bloggers such as Zoella (http://schoee.blogspot.com/2010/09/diy-ombre-hair.html) and Llymlrs (http://www.llymlrs.com/2010/08/how-to-diy-ombre-hair_06.html).
Positive points about Ombre Hair!
- Low Maintenance
- Easy to DIY, therefore saving a trip to the salon and your money!
- Doesn't require root 'touch-ups'
- Looks very beachy / sun-kissed if you like that look
- Can look very stylish and on-trend with the celebs
- A way for brunettes to be blonde without going all the way or worrying about roots!
When Ombre-ing your hair, a normal blonde hair dye will not work. You have to use a highlighting or lightening kit because blonde hair dye will not lighten your hair - it will just go ginger, or a similar brassy tone.. Good Luck if you're trying it yourself!
I myself bought some hair bleach (Live Color XXL) and am planning on trying it! So look out for my blog post showing my new ombre hair! I hope it goes well because I go back to school on Monday LOL, I don't want to embarrass myself!
