Health & Beauty » LUSH Tortures Womans In Their Shop ( For Anti-animal Testing Campaign)

A cosmetic company named Lush ( i think people around here know it, i know i have seen that name in post titles) recently decided to take action and make a campaign against animal-testing.
They teamed up with Humane Society International and went for the "shock" method for their campaign and decided to put a woman, who is a performance artist, in their store display in London and tortured her for hours, making product tests on her and simulating what the animals go through to test the products that some companies then sells. Here is what she agreed to do : "flesh-colored bodystocking and be force fed, smothered with lotions, and have her hair shaved " ( quoted from the source)

It does seem extreme and a shocking campaign but I think it was successful because you can find articles about it everywhere online. Even though it seems a bit extreme, im with their cause and im against animal testing because there are other reliable ways to test products and animals shouldn't suffer.

What do you think of this campaign? Good or too much?
Are you against or in favor of animal testing?

I'm not in favor of animal testing but I'm not against it as well until something better came up...people don't realize that if they don't test in animals, they test in other things like stem cells and that can rise a lot of moral and ethic and I already heard rumors about testing in fetus they get in abortion clinics, don't know if this is truth, it seems improbable, but they have to test them...

Hmm, this definitely gets the shock factor. I guess it's a good way to help people really visualize the cause/problem. I find that when trying to portray a message through text or images people sometimes don't connect or understand as well.

More companies should resort to animal-free testing

Companies need to do this more often. If other HUMANS think this is cruel to do this to a human, it's the same freaking way to do this to animals, or ANY creature. It's a shame.

I am so sorry but animal are total different than humans. If you want to test things on people and not on animal somethings wrong with you don't get me wrong i love animals in fact i own two, but i still think this was something that was completely uncalled for. For me this campaign ad and testing animals should be illegal. (Going a little to far but you get my point.)

it's curious... you will get people "OMG I can't believe that animals go through all this" blah blah but when they go shopping they won't give a damn... this is like africa people see those people who need to be feeded and feel sorry, they take 3 seconds to think about it and later they buy a louis vitton and don't even think about sending some food to africa! it's worthless if you ask me

I think it was a good idea to show people just what those animals have to go through.

Definitely a shocking method but I think it works. And I'm definitely against animal testing, which explains why I use only cruelty-free products.

I don't think it's too much, but have stopped using Lush products ever since they had their anti oilsands campaign with their anti oilsands bath bomb or whatever. They didn't realize that it was a bad idea since in a province where hundreds upon thousands of jobs including mine & my fiance's depends on oilsands. Plus how do they think their products get transported around the country and in US lol precious oil.

I don't think it is too much. We like to sugar coat what we THINK is happening to all sorts of animals every single day... this kind of puts a real spin to some of the truths...and people are shocked because it is simulated on a human, but it is just as cruel for the animals who REALLY are put through testing.
