Health & Beauty » How I use cellulose makeup remover sponges

I first read about the makeup remover sponges on a Romanian blog and considering I could find them in a DM store for less than one euro, I decided to give them a try. The makeup remover sponges are supposed to be used to remove masks from your face but they are great for exfoliating as well.
I found some from the brand Ebelin and the package comes with two sponges, separately packed in a clear plastic.
So the way I use this sponge to remove the makeup (but I keep away from the eye area) is the following:
After I take out the sponge, I wet it well with water and add a bit of liquid soap and foam really well and then rinse it and squeeze well the sponge. You'll notice that the sponge will become softer and bigger.
Then I add the makeup remover or facial cleansing cream, just a few dots and gently massage my skin in circular motions. I stay away from my eye area as the skin is really sensitive there!
When you are pleased how much you massaged your skin and you feel like you got all the makeup off, then add some liquid soap to the sponge and wash everything of. Then store the sponge on a hygienic place and let it dry.
This method not only removes the makeup from your face (please excuse the yucky looking sponge, but you can see it really removes makeup) but it also gently exfoliates the skin.
Also you don't need a big amount of makeup remover and you can use the sponge for 2-3 weeks. And you don't have to use lots of cotton pads, only to remove the eye makeup.

So if you want to give this method a try, I highly recommend it. I feel my face really fresh and clean after using this method to remove makeup, plus it is really cheap to by the sponges.

Have you ever tried using makeup remover sponges?

LOL I was just thinking how rough this can be on the eyes, because that is where I usually only use remover on. I wash the rest of my face with cleanser and whatnot in the shower haha.. but thanks for clarifying that up.

I've actually never used a sponge to clean my face. I wouldn't know where to store it in my bathroom.

I haven't tried these makeup remover sponges but I used to have those facial brushes that help exfoliating, I used them at the beginning but in the end left them aside and eventually threw them out. I think they're not for me lol

smart idea. Growing up I washed off my makeup with a wash cloth that had cleanser on it. The rag would work similarly to exfoliate as it removed the makeup.
