Apparently this is what had happened to a girl when she first put on some contacts. So as she says "my eyes were normal after the first couple minutes i put them in, after 10 minutes they felt like they were on fire and my eyes were itching like crazy" <-- that's when you know the contacts that you ordered , or brand that you use . YOU ARE ALLERGIC to whatever its made out of, or whatever solution you choosed to clean it with. OR perhaps you cleaned it out wrong.
So make sure you read the directions and follow it.
and double check to see if your allergic to anything on the back of the contacts box.

ouuuch. my eyes have looked like that before, but because i had whooping cough, not cause of contacts. :|
Ouch, hopefully it's not too severe.
