Health & Beauty » all about toners

I always wondered if toner is important, becuase i know some dermatologists swear by it, and some say that we can take it out of our skin care routine altogether, so i guess it's what works best for you.. but i came along this article which i found interesting. i have very oily skin, and i thought what she says in this article is really true..
here it is:

"While most people don't necessarily need a toner to take good care of their skin, some skin types can really benefit from one. Here are some recommendations, depending on your skin type:

Oily or acne-prone skin may need an extra few swipes to remove excess oil, dirt, and makeup, even after washing. Look for toners that contain alpha or beta hydroxy acids, which can penetrate the oil glands and unclog pores. Try Burt’s Bees' new Natural Acne Solutions Clarifying Toner — it contains witch hazel, lemongrass extract, and salicylic (beta hydroxy) acid that’s sourced naturally from willow bark extract. As with many toners that are meant for oily skin, it contains alcohol, which can dry you out, so use it sparingly if you're also using acne medicine such as benzoyl peroxide.

Dry skin can always use extra moisture, so look for an alcohol-free toner with hydrating ingredients like glycerin. The Body Shop's Vitamin E Hydrating Toner contains glycerin and wheat germ oil to add moisture to dehydrated skin. Caudalie's Toning Lotion is also free of alcohol and contains Vinolevure, a proprietary ingredient derived from wine yeast that holds moisture in the skin. It has a light, refreshing citrus-mint fragrance.

Sensitive skin can become irritated if you rub a cotton ball over it, so look for spray toners with skin-soothing ingredients. Nude Skincare's Hydrating Water contains calming plant extracts like prickly pear to hydrate and soothe inflamed skin. Spritz before moisturizing for extra hydration, and spray during the day to freshen your makeup. "

i do agree that even after washing my face, sometimes there would still be dirt and oil left, so using toner does help clean my face better by wiping it off.. hope this helps
