My boyfriend and I ended up at our local Mediterranean restaurant for dinner tonight after heading to a different restaurant and finding it was closed due to remodeling. We went to this restaurant for Valentine ’s Day, so it was a toss up between the chicken kabob sandwich or the baked kibbe. Since I can have kibbe anytime I want or, while I can also make a lazy mans version at home anytime I want it, I opted for the chicken kabob. Why a chicken kabob? Well, I’ll be honest – the dressing! The dressing at this restaurant, as with all other Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants is homemade and the same thing – it’s a mixture of water, lemon, olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. It’s seriously the best. I want to try to make it at home, but I don’t know the exact measurements – I have a general gist on how to make THREE GALLONS, but not a small jar. I suppose I’ll be experimenting this summer with it.
I ordered the chicken kabob, which is grilled chicken served on pita bread with lettuce, tomato, onion and house dressing. It’s then served along with homemade French fries. The French fries are really good at this restaurant! They have the skin on them and they’re crunchy, yet soft at the same time. My boyfriend ordered his usual, the sirloin sandwich with fries. I didn’t take a picture of his, but it looked like mine but with sirloin in it. Overall, it was very yummy and super filling!
What do you typically order at a Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant?
What did you have for dinner today?
