Lunch: Chinese "Junk Food" at 101 Noodle Express

my mom and i went to 101 noodle express for lunch today. 101 noodle express is a chinese chain restaurant in southern california. they don't really have dishes like normal chinese restaurants... my parents call it "xiao chi" or "little eats" because they have things like buns, dumplings, cold plates, and a lot of smaller dishes that could be considered junk food.

we went in really wanting a bowl of spicy beef noodles but they were out of broth and it would take a long time for them to make more. i don't really understand that and i'm so sad i didn't get to have my beef noodle fix :(

instead, we ordered the beef rolls and green onion pancake. i've had the beef rolls in the past. they're made with a green onion pancake and they roll beef and cilantro into the middle. it's really good. the green onion pancake was also really good - crisp and thin. while i do like thick, flaky green onion pancake as well, i LOVED these.

do either of these dishes look like something you'd like to try?
