I made these garlic parmesan croutons at home last week. I have been eating a lot of salads lately and I find that croutons make the salad taste so much better! I originally had bought a bag of croutons at the store.. I think a small bag was about $2.
I thought about how much croutons I could make from a whole loaf of bread and I decided to make my own croutons.
Ingredients
- White bread
- Oil
- Dried Parsley Leaves
- Garlic powder
- Salt + Pepper
- Cajun Seasoning
- Grated Parmesan Cheese
I cut up all the pieces of bread into small squares and spread them on an oven tray. I added all of the ingredients, except for parmesan cheese, and mixed everything together. The oven was set to 400F and it took about 10-15min for the bread to turn golden brown. While the croutons were hot and fresh out of the oven, I sprinkled some parmesan cheese over. The cheese will melt after awhile and it tastes amazing!
After they cool, I store them in ziploc bags. I put them over salads or I just eat croutons alone as a snack :)

I've never made croutons before, but I probably should because I eat a lot of salad and a small bag of croutons is definitely not worth the price.

Wow they look great and sound like they are very yummy. I have never tried this myself but would like to. I have been on these Salad Crazes lately as well.
My mom does this all the time and it is much better then store bought croutons. They perfect for salads and snacks and we even put them in our soup or chilli. Yum
