Earlier today I was browsing through the food universe and came across a post where they took that nights dinner and transferred it to the oven to bake a bit. I immediately knew that is what I wanted to make for my and my son's lunch today.
I made just enough for the two of us and it was super simple. I just boiled some pasta until tender and then drained it and mixed it some pasta sauce until well coated. That, I then transferred to a "hobo bag" (two layers of aluminum foil that you pull together to close and it looks like a hobo bag) and covered with 3 different cheeses I had on hand. It went into the oven for 25 minutes and then I just dipped out some for my son and ate mine right out of the little foil packet. Hey, less dishes that way, lol!
This was a fantastic way to get that baked ziti kind of feel but quicker and in a much smaller portion that I wanted.

I love baked pasta! I always order it when I go out to eat. I always like how the cheese is so nicely and evenly melted in baked pasta.
how clever! A great way to use up leftovers!
looks so good!
That looks so so darn goood !
What a great idea!
I like eating this type of pasta! it's a nice alternative, to eat baked ones
looks so good! gonna do that next time i have leftover pasta
this looks so delicious and cheesy! pictures like this make me sad that i've cut cheese almost entirely out of my diet :(
yum looks good
I'm sure it tasted good
I never knew you could cook pasta this way, it is a good way to avoid having to wash all those dishes after the food coma from your delicious pasta kicks in!
I like to buy the individual plates. Walmart has really small aluminum ones, and that's what I use. I would think I would be super messy at that and puncture the foil.
ha ha amen to the less dishes! looks great.
Michelle Mai Huynh♡: Yup, it was you! :-)
mylittlecasey *: It is basically the same, this just makes for easier clean up. less dishes, you know.
Tehehe that was me. Yup less dishes to clean up. This looks so yummy! :)
looks sooo good!
Baked pasta is the best!! I usually cook leftovers in a pan and add the cheese, but this hobo bag method seems to work well too. I'm sure your son enjoyed this meal. :)
this reminds me of cooking fish in the dishwasher.. LOL because of the foil x) i might give this a try!
Ooh I am definitely going to try that if I ever have leftover pasta.

I never think of throwing my leftover pasta in the oven!
