Okay so my mom JUST told me about this amazing foundation she heard about recently. It's called The Bucket List Dream Foundation and it is like the Make-a-Wish foundation --but for people over the age of 55!
A "bucket list" is a list of things you want to do before you die, and with this amazing charity, you can help the dreams of elderly people come true! You can make monetary donations on their website at www.thebucketlistdreamfoundation.org for any value at all, or for $1,000 (a little pricey so maybe for a group gift for your birthday?) you can sponsor one dream and then receive pictures and updates about how that person's dream has been granted!
Just think, there are so many elderly people in our country that may be widowed, may have lost contact with their friends, and may not live close enough to their children and grandchildren. These people may have a lot of dreams they'd like to accomplish but may not have anyone to help them do so. It's very sad, and I hope you at least go visit their site and look into maybe helping.
My mom also said that when she heard about it, (either on TV or in a newspaper) she heard that the man who started it is a young man who used to play in the NFL.
He said that one of the wishes he granted was to an 80 year old woman who wanted to go skydiving!! :) Also, a man wanted to find a woman he had met before going off to war, who lived in England. The owner of this foundation scoured for information on this woman, and alas found that she had died only two months prior to this discovery. So since he couldn't reunite the two, he flew this man to go visit her grave. So incredibly sad, but sweet that at least this man received some closure.
So anyways, just wanted to make sure you all knew about this. Please, if you have a Facebook, a Twitter, or anything, just post the link to their website today or tomorrow (or whenever!) and simply spread the word. It takes two seconds, and who knows who may see the link and decide to grant 100 wishes!! :) Thanks.
